08/18/16 – Proposed Regulation R096-16: Medical Assistants

Please see the proposed regulation linked below. With input from your board, we have worked with NSMA and other specialty groups to advise the BME on language that would hopefully make this regulation workable in your offices.
When the BME issued its latest version of the draft regulation, they added the word “dispense” in the final sentence. I am unclear how many of you might actually dispense drugs, so I do not know if this complicates procedures in your offices. Please advise ASAP whether we should work to have this language stricken, or just leave it alone.
